Burlesque dancers successfully set a new World Record in London on Saturday the 13th of February for the World’s Fastest Glove Peel Relay to show their support for Australian singer/songwriter Sapphira and her tribute to Sir Richard Branson which also included a Kissing Petition.

From Manchester to Middlesex, Brighton to Bristol, Cambridge to Chelmsford, Newport to New Eltham, Islington to the Isle of Wight, burlesque dancers gathered in London to set World’s Fastest Glove Peel Relay with 32 performers achieving a time of 21.02 seconds. The event was to a-peel to Sir Richard to support Sapphira and mentor her debut self-funded album, Mistress. The event opened with a kissing petition and Benefit Cosmetics Make-Up artists beautified the lips of each dancer. The participants then kissed a poster to create a Kissing Petition, collecting kisses (instead of signatures) which was delivered to the Virgin Management Head Office to show the group’s combined wish for Sir Richard’s help.

The footage was submitted to RecordSetter.com, a World Record organisation that celebrates human achievement and their council confirmed the new World Record.

The event took place at the Clapham Grand, a venue which opened as a music hall in 1900, the 1,250-person capacity Clapham Grand has previously served as a cinema, bingo hall, and nightclub at stages of its history and boasts the legendary Charlie Chaplin as patron and performer. Founder of Sapphira’s Showgirls, a burlesque academy that empowers women through self-expression, Sapphira has had a fascination with the British business magnate since Valentine’s Day 2013 when she launched the  My Heart Belongs To Branson’ YouTube campaign that requested his help with flights for her group to tour from Australia to England.

Sir Richard responded sending his love back and discounting flights for the group. Since that time, Sapphira has rallied over 250 performers and industry professionals in 6 cities in her quest to meet her business idol, even achieving a Guinness World Record in 2014 with Burleskathon which she dedicated to the Virgin Group Founder.

Sir Richard Branson has achieved many World Records and I find him to be an inspiring personality who mentors young business people. He is a beacon for entrepreneurs and this World Record tribute is to ask for his help,‘ says the Australian singer.  It is my dream to meet Sir Richard but even 15 minutes of his time would be great for the development of Sapphira Music.’

In exchange for help with the debut project, Sapphira is committing 10% of all profit from sales, royalties and licensing for the lifetime of the album to Sir Richard Branson’s charity, Virgin Unite.
