Reigning Miss Burlesque WA and national runner-up Sugar du Joure is representing Australia at the Bordeaux Burlesque Festival (France) in May 2017. Perth’s own international Burlesque star, Sugar has performed at the Perth, London and Australian Burlesque festivals since beginning her career performing burlesque with Subiaco-based troupe Lady Velvet Cabaret.... BUT NEVER TO FRANCE!
To celebrate Sugar’s debut performance in mainland Europe, Lady Velvet Cabaret is throwing her a special going away party at Connections Nightclub on 12th May. The ‘Bon- Bon Voyage, Sugar du Joure’ party will bring together some of Perth’s brightest burlesque stars, as well as special guest performers, DJs, as well as prizes for best dressed, raffles, and comedy.
Expect drinking, dancing and some wild soft-cheese induced dreams later that night, as Perth bids Bon Voyage to one of its best burlesque exports! Sugar has gained an international reputation for her unique brand of burlesque which is both seductive and charismatic. Sugar has a flair for comic timing, and some of her most well-known routines involve her performing saucy striptease dressed as a sheep, a tube of toothpaste, or even a walrus!
This unique brand of burlesque has earned her a number of fans across the globe, invitations to perform overseas, and the title of Miss Burlesque Western Australia. Last year Sugar flew to Darwin to compete in the national Miss Burlesque Australia competition and was awarded first runner up in the nation’s most hotly contested burlesque contest.
