The Art of Burlesque, the latest fitness trend

  • Tags:

The seductive art of Burlesque has been around for centuries and although it has a reputation for being sassy, saucy and really quite raunchy, it’s far more than just a strip act. As well as being erotic and sensual, Burlesque is also a celebration of feminism, independence and individuality with many people taking up this popular pastime in a bid to shed the pounds.

It’s clear that ladies and gents (well yes, gents too) want to feel attractive while working out which could explain why they’ve ditched the spandex in return for some beautiful vintage gear – and who could blame them?

In short, there is indeed a market for those who like to think outside the box and exercise in a completely different fashion. Fitness professionals have identified a niche for work out programs that are fun and seductive as well as being great at burning calories which is why Burlesque makes a great break from the norm. It’s fun, it’s interactive and best of all it incorporates a wide range of moves that’ll not only give you the pins of Gypsy Rose Lee but the corseted waist of Dita Von Teese.

Sharing a room with other sweaty people as they do their thing on an array of strange looking machines just isn’t your bag so what should you do instead? Go home and munch on chocolate and cake or bend it and shake it any way you want until your heart’s content? Sure, the former might be tempting but that latter is not only fun, it’s far better for your health and with Burlesque groups popping up left right and centre you shouldn’t be short of choice.

Burlesque fitness classes are growing in popularity and widely available throughout gyms and fitness centres around the world. Hard Candy Fitness in SydneyBurlexercise(UK) discovered recently, are just a few examples. Their classes promise that you’ll work out your inhibitions while crafting the body of a diva. And with workouts lasting an hour, you’ll certainly feel the cardiovascular burn. Burlesque fitness classes now sit comfortably beside other strenuous workouts, such as Zumba and Pole Dancing – another superb muscle-toning session. If you’re tempted, make enquiries within your local area to find gyms hosting Burlesque fitness classes.

If you enjoy the workout and your confidence increases, you can always then look to take the next step and attend a class.

If you need more inspiration, Burlesque dancers can be hired to liven up parties and will show you exactly how to get the moves just right. Your buns will be tighter than you ever could have imagined, so why not give it a go and see what all the fuss is about?
